Public Transport Alliance Welcomes Move to Electric Vehicles

The Alliance Owners of Public Transport (AOPT) has expressed satisfaction with the government’s announcement that funding will be made available to assist public service vehicle (PSV) operators in transitioning from fuel to electric vehicles.

Energy Minister Senator Lisa Cummins recently confirmed that financial resources would be accessible through a fund to support this shift. AOPT Chairman Roy Raphael revealed that around 20 members of the alliance are already prepared to make the transition to electric transportation.

This move is expected to modernize the public transport sector while also reducing carbon emissions and fuel costs. More details on the funding process and implementation timeline are expected in the coming weeks.
