The National Peace Program To Empower Young People

The National Peace Program has launched its flagship event, “Flip Yah Script,” with the goal of empowering young individuals from at-risk communities through personal and professional development opportunities.

Corey Lane, the Minister of State in the Office of the Attorney General with responsibility for Crime Prevention, announced that almost 100 youths from various communities across the nation are participating in the initiative. The launch took place at the Accra Beach Hotel and Spa.

The participants will engage in an eight-week program centered on personal development, delving into subjects like etiquette and financial management. The aim is for these young individuals to become advocates for peace within their communities. Additionally, life coaches will be assigned to support them in their personal journeys.

Minister Corey Lane highlighted various initiatives under the National Peace Program, such as the New Horizons Youth Portal and Startwise, which are designed to greatly benefit the youth.

During the event, Minister Lane conveyed that the government and society at large are standing behind these young individuals, encouraging them to also advocate for their own progress.

“Flip Yah Script” aims to broaden the perspectives of young people, inspire them, and equip them with essential skills and knowledge to overcome the challenges of their environments. The objectives include motivating participants from at-risk communities to set higher goals and think creatively, offering personal and professional development through workshops and informational sessions, and fostering community engagement and networking among both participants and organizations.
