Juliann Sealy is currently battling Polycystic Kidney and Liver Disease
In the heart of Barbados, Juliann Sealy has long been known as a pillar of strength—someone who always extended a hand, offered a warm smile, and gave her all to those around her. A loving mother, sister, and friend, Juliann has dedicated her life to caring for others. Today, she finds herself on the other end of that equation fighting a series of debilitating health issues and reaching out to the public for support.
Juliann is currently battling Polycystic Kidney and Liver Disease (PKLD), a genetic disorder that causes cysts to develop in the kidneys and liver, progressively impairing their function. Her condition has advanced to Stage 2 Kidney Disease, and her left kidney is functioning at nearly zero capacity. In addition to this, she has kidney stones in both kidneys, adding to her constant pain and discomfort.
But the challenges do not end there. Juliann also suffers from lumbar spondylosis, sciatica, and bulging spinal discs, all of which contribute to a daily cycle of sharp pain, limited mobility, and exhaustion. She has experienced loss of feeling in her left leg, and now lives with intense tingling and numbness, which affect her ability to walk or even rest comfortably. On many nights, muscle spasms rob her of sleep, leaving her physically drained and emotionally overwhelmed.
These overlapping medical conditions have left Juliann unable to function in the way she once did. Basic activities such as sitting, standing, or sleeping have become insurmountable tasks. Despite her strength and resilience, her condition has worsened dramatically in recent months, and the toll it has taken is both physical and emotional.
Doctors have urgently recommended a series of MRI scans and diagnostic tests to better assess the extent of her condition and determine the appropriate course of treatment. Unfortunately, these scans and consultations are costly. Without them, Juliann cannot begin the treatment she desperately needs.
She is now seeking help from the community, hoping to raise a total of US$10,000, with an initial minimum of US$5,000 needed immediately to begin the testing process.
In her own words, Juliann shared:
“I never thought I’d be in this position. But the pain has become unbearable, and I am no longer able to live the life I once did. I am in constant discomfort, often unable to sleep, walk, or carry out daily activities. I’m humbly asking for your help to get the tests and care I urgently need. Your support can make all the difference.”
Juliann’s story is not just one of illness, but of remarkable courage. She continues to fight every day for a chance at relief, at healing, at hope. But she cannot do it alone.
