Terry Cadogan of Kane Gardens, St. Philip

The Barbados Police Service Major Crime Unit has arrested and formally charged 36-year-old Terry Cadogan of Kane Gardens, St. Philip, in connection with a series of car thefts that occurred between 2018 and 2019.

Cadogan is accused of stealing multiple motor vehicles and their contents over a period of several months. According to police reports, he allegedly committed the following offenses:
stealing motor cars and their contents on the 5th of December 2018 and between the 20th and 21st (5:28) of June 2018. Cadogan is also charged with theft of motor cars between the 26th and 27th of August (5:36) 2018, between the 6th and the 7th of September 2018, between the 11th and 12th of November 2018, (5:44) and between the 21st and 22nd of November 2018.

Authorities say the stolen vehicles were taken from various locations across the island.
Police investigations suggest that some of the vehicles were stripped for parts, while others were used for criminal activity before being abandoned or resold.

In addition to the theft charges, Cadogan is also accused of being in possession of a stolen motor vehicle between October 12, 2018, and January 9, 2019. Investigators believe that this vehicle was either kept for personal use or intended for resale.

Police officials have stated that the arrest comes as part of an ongoing crackdown on vehicle-related crimes in Barbados. Over the past few years, there has been a noticeable increase in reports of car thefts, prompting law enforcement to strengthen surveillance and investigative efforts.

Cadogan was scheduled to appear before Magistrate Douglas Fredericks at the District B Magistrate’s Court today, where he is expected to answer to the charges brought against him.

The Barbados Police Service continues to urge vehicle owners to take extra precautions, such as securing their vehicles in well-lit areas, using anti-theft devices, and reporting any suspicious activity to the authorities.
