Four Alleged Gunmen Detained After Shootout with Police in Spaulding

Clarendon, Jamaica- A dramatic standoff between police and alleged gunmen unfolded in Spaulding, Clarendon, yesterday, resulting in injuries to a police officer and the detention of four suspects.

The incident began around 1:30 PM when law enforcement responded to reports of an armed robbery at a local supermarket. Upon arrival, officers were met with gunfire from the suspects, prompting a fierce exchange of fire. In the ensuing chaos, a police officer sustained injuries and was rushed to a nearby medical facility for treatment. The injured officer is reportedly in stable condition.

The suspects, who had barricaded themselves inside the supermarket, engaged in a lengthy standoff with the police. After nearly two and a half hours of negotiations, they eventually surrendered. Two of the suspects were found to be injured and were immediately transported to a hospital under police guard.

A thorough search of the premises led to the recovery of four firearms, including an AK-47 rifle. The Jamaica Defence Force and the Jamaica Fire Brigade were called in to assist with the extraction of the suspects and to secure the scene.
