Classes at St. Luke’s Brighton Primary School were suspended this morning due to environmental issues. School officials cited concerns about a strong, unpleasant odor and its potential health effects on students and staff.
. Teachers and parents were seen leaving the school shortly after the closure was announced and The Ministry of Education confirmed that a team was dispatched to investigate the situation.
An environmental specialist also arrived at the scene to test air quality.
“This isn’t the first time our children have been sent home early ,” said a concerned parent who wished to remain anonymous. Another parent expressed frustration over the ongoing problems at the school. She said she’d heard about these issues for a while now and that even the teachers were affected. Several parents emphasized the need for a thorough investigation, hoping that today’s closure would finally prompt one.
A parent of a student at the School has suggested a possible connection between the school’s recent environmental issues and heavy rainfall. The parent noted that the school seems to experience problems whenever there are heavy downpours.
This observation raises questions about the potential underlying causes of the environmental concerns and whether the school’s infrastructure or location may be contributing factors.
The Ministry of Education is currently investigating the situation and will determine when it is safe for the school to reopen.
