Residents in Christ Church and St. Philip districts are grappling with a water crisis that has persisted since Friday night, leaving many frustrated and concerned about the lack of immediate solutions. Despite the ongoing challenges, there has been no sign of water trucks in some areas, prompting residents to express their dissatisfaction.
One resident, expressing skepticism about the forthcoming monthly bills reflecting the current water issues. The sentiment resonates with the growing frustration among residents who feel neglected in the face of the ongoing water shortage.
According to an announcement by The BWA, they are conducting emergency repairs to a 16 -inch main in the Woodbourne, Christ Church area, and the pumping station at Hampton had top be taken offline in order for repairs to be conducted. As a result this is resulting in low pressure or complete water outages in various neighborhoods.
The affected areas include Fairview, Dolphin Park, Kingsland, Water Street, Lowlands, Coverley, Foursquare Valley, Leadvale, Parish Land, Pitchers Hill, St. Patrick’s, Thyme Bottom, and surrounding areas.
Adding to the discontent, a resident highlighted the lack of communication from the Barbados Water Authority, stating that no notice was issued until after the water was already off. With Sunday marking the third day without water, residents find themselves struggling to meet basic needs, including washing and cooking for their families.
The frustration escalated as the resident pointed out that no water trucks had been dispatched to their area, despite neighboring regions receiving attention. The plea was directed toward the authorities, urging them to send a water tanker to Coverley promptly. The resident emphasized the urgency, particularly with school and work resuming the next day, and the impact on residents who have had to purchase water and food amidst the water scarcity.
A call for action on social media reflects the growing discontent among affected residents and raises questions about the effectiveness of the response to the water crisis. As the situation continues, residents await a swift and comprehensive resolution to their water woes.
