RALLY POLAND RETURNS TO WRC FOR 2024

Poland hasn’t been included in the WRC since 2017, but returns next year
Rally Poland will return to the World Rally Championship next season for the first time since 2017.

Poland has been tipped to appear on the 2024 schedule, but the event confirmed its inclusion on the WRC calendar with a social media announcement on Monday.

The rally will take place on June 27-30.

Since it was dropped from the WRC schedule six years ago, predominantly to do with safety and spectator control, Poland has been a counting round of the European Rally Championship – as it had been before it joined the WRC in 2014.

During its four-year tenure in the world championship, it was won by Sébastien Ogier twice, Andreas Mikkelsen and Thierry Neuville. It was also won by Mikko Hirvonen back in 2009.

Poland will be one of three high-speed gravel events held in the Baltic region next season, with Latvia – also an ERC round in 2023 – stepping up to WRC status before Rally Finland in August.

The full 2024 calendar is yet to be revealed but will be delivered no later than the next meeting of FIA World Motor Sport Council on October 19.
