Man Critically Injured in Shooting; Nearby Residents Fear Escalating Gun Violence

A 50-year-old man is in critical condition after being shot in the neck on Saturday at Odessa McLean Drive, My Lords Hill. According to news reports, the victim was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in a private vehicle.

Residents in the area are expressing growing concern over the surge in gun-related violence. One neighbor recounted the tense moments following the gunfire. He reported that he heard the bullet, but I didn’t leave his house to inquire what was going on.
“It doesn’t feel good – every minute it’s gun violence. Young fellas shooting at each other, but it’s innocent people who end up getting hurt that we’re scared for,” the resident said.

In a frightening turn, a stray bullet reportedly tore through the resident’s yard before landing near the back door. “It’s frightening. One of those bullets could have easily come through my window,” they added.

Around 9:00am Saturday morning, gunfire erupted in Nelson Street, Bridgetown, damaging homes and vehicles. Residents of Vine Street described the terrifying ordeal as a bullet pierced a house, narrowly missing a resident . ”

Though no injuries were reported in that incident, the gunfire struck nearby vehicles and was reported to have narrowly missed an elderly woman.

Residents in the area are calling for stronger action to combat rising gun violence.
