Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – Prime Minister of Barbados, Mia Mottley, has arrived in Ethiopia for the start of a significant state visit that aligns with the 38th African Union (AU) Summit. The high-level gathering is being held under the theme Justice for Africans and People of African Descent Through Reparations, bringing global attention to reparatory justice and racial healing.
The summit, taking place in Addis Ababa, has drawn the participation of heads of state and government leaders from all 55 AU member nations. Prime Minister Mottley is accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Kerry Simmons, as well as Barbados’ ambassadors to Kenya and Ghana, Alexander MacDonald and Juliette Bynoe Sutherland. Their presence underscores Barbados’ growing engagement with African nations and its commitment to fostering closer diplomatic and economic ties with the continent.
