Trinidad and Tobago – Two separate cases of alleged sexual assault involving 14-year-old girls and close male relatives were reported to police on February 7th.
The first report was made at a police station in Chaguanas. A 14-year-old girl, accompanied by her mother, alleged that her older brother had sexual intercourse with her in July 2024 while she was at her grandmother’s home in Chaguanas.
Later that day, a similar report was filed at a police station in Gran Couva. A 14-year-old girl and her mother reported that the girl’s father had touched her inappropriately on several occasions at his home throughout 2023. They further alleged that he had sexual intercourse with her once at a pool house in Central.
In both instances, the Trinidad and Tobago Children’s Authority was notified, and requests were made for forensic medical examinations. Both girls have been referred to the Victim and Witness Support Unit for necessary assistance.
