Denyse Plummer, a celebrated calypso icon, has passed away following an extended battle with cancer.

Just last month, amidst swirling rumors of her demise, her son Jesse Boocock reassured media outlets in that Plummer was finding solace in her home, cherishing moments with her loved ones. She had resolved to discontinue her cancer chemotherapy treatments.

In May, Plummer shared an image capturing a joyous family gathering, where she expressed gratitude for the numerous blessings in her life. She recounted an unforgettable evening spent with her sons, daughters-in-law, and granddaughter, signifying her deep affection for them.

Plummer demonstrated her exceptional versatility by embracing a wide array of musical genres, spanning from pop to reggae and even country. Her journey commenced with a role at Maraval’s Chaconia Inn, and from there, she ventured fearlessly into the traditionally male-dominated realms of African calypso, soca, and chutney music.

Her illustrious career spanned several decades, highlighted by her triumphant 2001 Calypso Crown victory with hits like “Heroes” and “Nah Leaving.” She also achieved great success with the song “Woman is Boss.” She was of 69,
