All roads lead to the picturesque Archer’s Bay St. Lucy on January 21st, Errol Barrow Day from 10AM to 5PM for the We Gatherin’ Family Day and picnic. It will be a day celebrating family, fellowship and fun, in keeping with St. Lucy’s theme on the We Gatherin’ calendar.
The event, the first major event on the We Gatherin’ 2025 calendar, will feature a children’s play area and outdoor cinema, spacious dance floor and live, a Food and Rum Festival promotion and live entertainment on stage. The free event, produced by the National Cultural Foundation, will also be live streamed for the benefit of Barbadians in the diaspora as a lure to check out the We Gatherin’ calendar and make plans to come home at some point throughout the year-long celebration of Barbados.. NCF CEO Carol Roberts says that the event will offer a tranquil and beautiful space for families and communities near and far to come together. “This is St. Lucy’s big day on the We Gatherin calendar as well as the day on which we honour the legacy of the Right Excellent Errol Walton Barrow, National Hero of Barbados, who was born in St. Lucy. This year, we do so against the ruggedly beautiful backdrop of the Atlantic Ocean and the wide open space of the park at Archer’s Bay, while fostering unity and pride and celebrating the parish of St. Lucy. CEO Roberts shared, adding – “it is a day of reflection, connection and celebration”.
On the main stage there will be live performances by The Daryll Jordan Steel Orchestra, gospel artistes Jasiah Moore, Jaicko Lawrence, Neesha Woodz and John Yarde; Richard Stoute Over 21 Contest winner Shaneka George, reggae jams by Rhesa Garnes & Empressive Roots Band; spouge by Richard Stoute Teen Talent Contest winner Bit Bit, Ishiaka McNeil, Pic O De Crop Monarch Adrian Clarke and Mr. Blood, and sweet soca by Escobar, Lady Essence, Biggie Irie, SugahRhe, Natahlee, Mikey, Edwin Yearwood, soca queen Alison Hinds and Li’l Rick.
