51 Students Honored at CALM Program’s 3E’s Fair and Closing Ceremony

Friday, November 29, 2024 – Bridgetown, Barbados:
Today the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre was abuzz with excitement as 51 students from Springer Memorial Secondary School and Parkinson Memorial School were awarded their certificates of completion after successfully completing the 9-week Career and Life Management Program.

The event, hosted as part of the 3E’s Fair – an initiative focused on Education, Employment, and Entrepreneurship – marked the culmination of weeks of hard work and dedication by the participants. The program, facilitated by Pinelands Creative Workshop, aimed to empower youth with practical skills and knowledge to prepare them for future endeavors.

The opening ceremony was highlighted by remarks from Sophia Greaves , Chief Executive Officer of Pinelands Creative Workshop, who commended the students on their accomplishments. The Honorable Colin Jordan, Minister of Labour, Social Security, and Third Sector, delivered the keynote address and officially declared the 3E’s Fair open.

Throughout the day, attendees explored a vibrant showcase of educational and vocational opportunities. Presentations were delivered by key institutions such as the Barbados Community College, Samuel Jackman Prescod Institute of Technology, and the University of the West Indies, among others.

Speaking at the event, Sophia Greaves emphasized, “The CALM Program is about building not just skills but resilience and self-belief among our youth. Today, we celebrate their achievements and look forward to their bright futures.”
