Julia Caine is the General Manager at Cricket Legends of Barbados Inc which is an organization compromising of all Barbadian Cricketers who have retired from playing West Indies cricket.
Ms. Caine, reflecting on the celebration of International Women’s Day which was held on March 8 th , 2024, under the theme Invest In women: Accelerate Progress expressed humility at spearheading the team as General Manager endorsed and supported by the Board of Directors.
“To be recognized by these past players who are appreciated and celebrated by thousands around the world as greats and have entrusted me with this role is humbling. I know their stories and I see their dedication and passion in what they do, these values all align perfectly with my personal core values and what I try to uphold in my daily life. I think that is why we work so well as a team here at Cricket Legends of Barbados and why it is so easy for me to lead my team with integrity,” she said.
Ms. Caine who has worked in the managerial field for over ten-years, has been the General Manager for the past year, however, because she has worked with Cricket Legends of Barbados for the past twelve years she is able to use historical knowledge and know how to begin to chart new waters for the organization.
She shared some words of advice for any young lady seeking to enter male-dominated roles.
“Trust God even when you cannot see him. I never thought that I would be leading such a incredible organization with such a rich history. I left school wanting to be a veterinarian. I started working in admin from an early age while pursuing my studies in Pure Sciences. I was the part owner of a small business and through a proposal and a sales pitch of my product offerings I was given a part time position here at Cricket Legends of Barbados and as they say, the rest is history. Do not limit yourself to ever think that you cannot be the charter of the direction your life takes. Believing in God will guide you, have a positive mindset, never give up and stay humble and you can achieve great things,” she said.
