At least 22 people dead after shootings in Maine

Robert Card, aged 40, the suspect in the shooting

Officials have reported that at least 22 individuals lost their lives and several others sustained injuries in two separate shootings on Wednesday evening at a bowling alley and a restaurant in Lewiston, Maine. Authorities have launched an intensive manhunt for a person of interest, identified as Robert Card, aged 40, from Bowdoin. Maine Department of Public Safety Commissioner Mike Sauschuck has emphasized that Card should be considered armed and dangerous.

According to information provided by law enforcement officials, Card is a certified firearms instructor and serves as a member of the US Army Reserve. Recent reports indicated that Card had made threats about carrying out a shooting at a National Guard facility in Saco, Maine. Additionally, he has been dealing with mental health issues, including auditory hallucinations, as per the officials.

During a press briefing on Wednesday night, Commissioner Sauschuck refrained from divulging further details about Card, stating, “We’re not prepared to go into (Card’s) background.”

Although the exact number of individuals injured from gunfire remains unclear, multiple law enforcement sources confirmed that dozens were indeed wounded.
