Members of Pinelands Creative Workshop entertained the residents of Vauxhall Senior Citizens Village with their carolling and landship dances.
Vauxhall, Barbados – December 14, 2024
In a heartfelt display of culture, compassion, and community, the Pinelands Creative Workshop visited the National Assistance Board’s Vauxhall Senior Citizens Village, spreading joy through vibrant performances and a meaningful act of generosity.
Dressed in traditional white Landship uniforms, the group’s award-winning dancers performed a spirited repertoire of traditional Landship routines, holiday carolling, and a lively tuk medley, accompanied by their talented tuk band. The captivating cultural display brought smiles and festive cheer to the senior residents, celebrating the rich traditions of Barbados during this special season.
The highlight of the event was an emotional presentation by the organization, where two large hampers were donated to the senior citizens’ home. CEO Sophia Greaves expressed pride in the collective effort of the entire Pinelands Creative Workshop in making the donation possible. She emphasized the organization’s commitment to giving back to the community and ensuring the elders of the nation feel loved and appreciated.
The presentation was made by Danae Greaves, who became visibly emotional as she delivered a touching speech in memory of her late grandmother. Fighting back tears, Greaves shared, “This donation is a deeply personal gesture. My grandmother was cared for in a senior home before her passing, and this is my way of honouring her memory and the incredible care she received.”
The staff and residents of the Vauxhall Senior Citizens Village expressed their gratitude for the Pinelands Creative Workshop’s visit, praising the group not only for their engaging performances but also for their heartfelt acts of kindness. The donation of the hampers will go a long way in bringing additional comfort and joy to the residents during the holiday season.
Pinelands Creative Workshop continues to exemplify the true spirit of the holidays, blending cultural preservation with acts of generosity that leave a lasting impact.
