Father of Mentally Ill Man Shot Dead by Off-Duty Officer Demands Justice

Trinidad and Tobago – A father is demanding justice after his mentally ill son was fatally shot by an off-duty police officer last Friday.

Ezekiel Noel, 20, was reportedly suffering from schizophrenia when he was shot dead in an incident involving a female officer from the Princess Town Municipal Police.

Cleophas Noel, Ezekiel’s father, described the shooting as “cold and brutal.” He claims that his son was in need of help, not violence.

“As far as I’m concerned, it’s clear-cut murder,” Mr. Noel stated. He expressed frustration with the ongoing investigation and the lack of communication from authorities.

Mr. Noel is calling for an end to police brutality and is seeking justice for his son. He recounted dropping everything to help his son when his mental health deteriorated.

“He wasn’t well,” Mr. Noel said. “These things have to stop happening. They continue telling lies. I asked why they shot my son. He was unarmed and unwell.”

Mr. Noel further alleges that the officer shot his son in front of children who were present in the car. He condemned a culture of covering up police misconduct and demanded accountability for “rogue cops.”
