Kingston, Jamaica – Two individuals remain hospitalized following the explosion at the Burger King outlet in New Kingston on Wednesday. According to the Kingston Public Hospital, both patients are expected to make a full recovery but will require rehabilitation.
One patient remains at KPH in stable condition, while the other has been transferred to the University Hospital of the West Indies for specialized care. The third person injured in the explosion was treated and discharged.
The KPH clarified that it is capable of handling burn cases of varying severity, but in some instances, patients may require specialized care available at other institutions. The hospital emphasized that patients have the right to choose their preferred medical facility and will provide necessary medical reports for continuity of care.
The explosion, believed to have been caused by a gas leak, resulted in injuries to approximately six members of staff. The incident has prompted investigations into the cause of the explosion and measures to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
